"I am very passionate about my art. I love painting! I love my subject matter! I describe my paintings as poetic landscapes. My colors are somewhat impressionistic and my scenes are realistic so I describe my work as impressionistic realism. I receive innumerable comments on my use of color, lighting, subject matter, detail, and my figures. All of the figures in my paintings are either family or very close friends. I am often told that my paintings leave the viewers with a peaceful feeling."

"Burst of Springtime"

In the spring of 2002 the Outdoor Painters Society, OPS, met in Kerrville for our annual spring paint out. Another artist friend and I were doing a painting on the side of the road near Lost Maples looking over the fence when the owner of this beautiful pasture full of bluebonnets drove up and invited us inside the pasture to view the whole pasture. Imagine our surprise when we saw sweeping vistas of bluebonnets and other wildflowers, especially yellow ones, mixed in with the oaks, cedars, and cacti all growing in abundance. He invited us to come back the next day to paint inside his pasture. He said God had given his family these beautiful wildflowers to enjoy this year and he wanted to share them. What a blessing! I did about 4 plein air paintings in that one pasture, and the experience was exhilarating! This is one I did in my studio using my plein air study and photos for reference.
