"I am very passionate about my art. I love painting! I love my subject matter! I describe my paintings as poetic landscapes. My colors are somewhat impressionistic and my scenes are realistic so I describe my work as impressionistic realism. I receive innumerable comments on my use of color, lighting, subject matter, detail, and my figures. All of the figures in my paintings are either family or very close friends. This scene is on a private ranch in Kerrville in the Texas Hill Country, one of my very favorite subjects to paint. Of course, Madelyn and Aikman, her horse, were on our ranch so I just put them in this beautiful road scene with the wonderful lighting on it. Maddie titled the painting for me and I thought it fit perfectly. I loved the sunlight and shadows on the road along with the oaks, scrub oaks, cedar, rocks and caliche which are all so characteristic of the hill country. This is a painting that just flowed. I wish they all did as easily as this one.
