"I am very passionate about my art. I love painting! I love my subject matter! I describe my paintings as poetic landscapes. My colors are somewhat impressionistic and my scenes are realistic so I describe my work as impressionistic realism. I receive innumerable comments on my use of color, lighting, subject matter, detail, and my figures. All of the figures in my paintings are either family or very close friends. I am often told that my paintings leave the viewers with a peaceful feeling."

"Stormy Skies"

I wanted to do a painting with stormy skies, a windmill, & an old barn. I had Craig & Madelyn pose for me. I decided to put them in the sunlight although my original intention was to put them in shadow from the approaching storm. I combined a lot of different resources to do this painting including pictures of cattle. All of these cattle belong to us so photographing them was easy. Photographing Craig & Maddie was the most fun in doing this research. Believe it or not, as we finished one photography session it started raining and Maddie & I were in the back end of the pick-up as Craig was high-tailing it for the barn with big, old raindrops hitting us, and I was trying to keep Maddie dry as we were bouncing all over the back of the pick-up. Maddie really thought that was fun! Home Interiors is printing and selling the prints of this painting.
