My colors are somewhat impressionistic and my scenes are realistic so I describe my work as impressionistic realism. Ever so often the Arizona desert receives very good rains just at the right time of the year for the desert to present a glorious display of wildflowers. Such was the case the year I painted this painting. I was fortunate enough to have a good friend who arranged for me to get some beautiful photographs of the Arizona desert in full bloom. I have done several paintings of the desert in full bloom from those photographs and will probably be doing more. It is a great subject to paint with all of those magnificent wildflowers and the beautiful Arizona lighting.
