Sundown is a painting June had worked on, didn't feel it was what sshe wanted to portray, so setting it aside she thought about it. She soon realized she had used the wrong color palette to portray what she wanted. She picked it up again and using different colors and values she achieved what she originally set out to do.
Her very good friend and horse trainer, James Dixon, is the cowboy in this painting. If ever a man knew horses, James does. He is great whether he is on a horse or training horses. She could just envision him riding close to home after a hard day's work as the sun was going down.
