This piece was commissioned by a grandfather who already had several of my paintings, and he wanted one for his granddaughter. She works on a real western ranch, not a dude ranch, in New Mexico and takes fabulous photographs. He asked June to look at her photos and to select one she would like to paint her for Christmas. It was tough because she had so many great ones, but she kept coming back to this one and he called me to ask me why I selected this one. She loves painting early morning/late afternoon scenes with beautiful morning or evening light. This was early morning and she made it like dawn. He said she drives by this most days. Must be beautiful there.
