June loves old barns, &  painting old barns.  They hold so many memories for her as she grew up working and playing in hay lofts and old barns, feeding the animals, helping her daddy stretch animal skins he had trapped and just sitting there smelling the barn scents.  Some of her art friends and June were painting together in Glen Rose along the Paluxy River.  They took a break to look for some places to paint when they saw this beautiful old barn with gorgeous afternoon lighting on it tucked back in the woods.  It struck a cord with two of of them as they both jumped out to photograph it.  The broken down & patched old fence surrounding it reminded June so much of her daddy's old fences.  "Daddy was not good at putting up new fences," she said.  If it could be fixed, that is what he did.  She grew up with an old red barn complete with a hayloft and horse stalls.  She loved playing in it.  It burned one summer while putting the hay in the barn when a worker threw down his cigarette, & it went up in flames.  They didn't have a photograph of it, but she has painted it in several paintings from memory.  She loved the play of sunlight and shadow dancing on this one, & decided to put her grandson, Drew with his bucket of feed in it along with this little Brahma calf and call it Morning Chat.  She hopes it brings memories back to you too.
