Beside Still Waters

June has loved painting Texas Hill Country for years, and with a scene as dramatic as this one she couldn't wait to get started on it.  After some very careful planning she decided to use her friend, Duane Peters and his horse, Niners, in the painting.  They look as if they belong in this scene. She loved the foreground being all in shadow and the rest of the painting sunlit.  She also loved the autumn colors, the brightness on the sunlit rocks and trees, and always the water.  June is always challenged when painting water, and this water was pure delight.  The 23rd Psalms came to mind while painting the water.  "He leads me beside the quiet waters."  She considered "still" waters, but this water is gently flowing as you can see back behind the horse & cowboy.  She hopes you can put your own feelings and story into this painting.

Somerset Fine Art will soon be releasing this image as a print and giclee.
